Topic2:Travel

I agree with that quotation which is " Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." When people travel abroad, they will see different culture. By communicating with the people who are from different culture background, they can know a lot of opinions that are totally different with them. Then, the travelers can know and understand that people's life styles, and might do not think the people from an another area are rude and impolite. It is just like people in california. California has many immigrations from many different countries, so the people who are in california they connect with people who have different culture background. I think that is the reason why california has less discrimination. According to my experiences, when I talk with a person from another country, I always get a lot of information, and I always find out their different logic; so I can understand their behaviors, and respect them. By learning other culture, I can find out the advantages and disadvantages of each individual culture, and I  figure out that my culture is not always be the best one.

  2. Hi Mengxue, this is Linda.
I agree with what you shared on your blog. I think you like travelling so much and so do I. By travelling to different places, I experienced and study a lot. I know that ethnic groups are diffirent and I always respect them. Have you ever felt shocked with different cultures?

    1. In fact, I was shocked when I saw many Americans wear shorts, and t-shirts during winter.

  3. Hi Mengxue,
It is interesting experiences. I think, it is true that California has less discrimination because they have lots of immigrants so they have many cultures in one society.

  4. I like that you mentioned respect. I think that respecting each other is so important. I would hope that travel increases respect for other countries, but I do wonder if sometimes it makes us more narrow-minded. For example, if someone had a bad experience in another culture, they might hate and go home to their safe little corner of the world.

    2. I do not know, and I agree with you that some people had bad experiences. However, I think everything has negative and positive sides. There is nothing can be perfect. I think that question can be a paper topic, hahaha...!
